Welcome to 2022.

Yes, it’s April. When does a new year start? It’s finally Spring in Berlin, so about now feels right. I’m assured that it is not March 2020 anymore. In Roman times apparently the first month was in Spring? So, maybe that’s when we should reboot our lives now, in 2022.

Life has felt on pause in many ways hasn’t it. Whilst, there’s many people who don’t seem to like humans all that much, for those of us that do, there’s been a lot less contact the last 2 years. In socialising, meetups, and in business, there’s been an air of “are you a pyschopath?” for wanting to meetup.

Technology has enabled us to continue. But it is missing considerable amount of communication aspects. Slack, Zoom, blah de blah. These were the old skool tech, that became popular during the pandemic. Yes, making things async includes a lot more people, and is part of communication in a modern era. BUT, it’s ONLY part of it.

If you’re not actually interacting in real-time with other humans, in your team, then you’re missing out. And so is your business.

In early-stage startups, and corporate venturing spin-outs, if you’ve not got a selection of employees around a whiteboard, perhaps it’s going to take you a very long time to solve a problem. In old-skool Germany, perhaps it was acceptable to take 3 months to solve a problem. The money was around to cover this period. But perhaps now it is time to start competing? No more hiding the real questions inside a pdf, that is somehow emailed out to people, only to be lost in most people’s spam folder!!!
